Improving transparency with cloud-based logistics platform

Customer

SGCP Gyproc in Belgium is part of the multinational Saint-Gobain and market leader in the production and sale of gypsum boards for wall and ceiling systems. It supplies gypsum plasters, insulation, and industrial premix mortars and adhesives. Serving a customer base across Belgium, France, and the Netherlands, the company ships 1,000 tons of items per day, in up to 65 trucks.

Our employees noticed quickly that the new way of working drastically reduced the number of errors. And carriers are able to receive data directly in their system now.

SGCP Gyproc

Challenges

The company lacked a common method of communication with its pool of carriers, resulting in:

  • Insufficient clarity on transport allocation processes
  • Poor data alignment between ERP reports, Excel spreadsheets, emails, and telephone calls
  • Mistakes caused by manual data entry – the wrong destination or truck-trailer combination
  • Misunderstandings between shipper and carrier personnel

Solution

The Transporeon cloud-based logistics platform with the following software-as-a-service products:

  • Transport Assignment using ‘best carrier’ – to place fixed-contract orders to a closed pool of carriers
  • Time Slot Managementusing ‘no-touch’ – for optimized unloading/loading processes
  • Full integration with the existing SAP ERP system
