The challenge
Nestlé faced significant challenges in transforming its global transportation network. In 2018, the company embarked on a bold initiative: the Transportation Hubs (T-Hub) program. The goal was to create a unified system that could:
-
Improve service
-
Reduce costs
-
Increase visibility
-
Cut CO₂ emissions
-
Enhance safety
However, the company’s global operations were decentralized, relying on separate technologies in different regions, which created inconsistent and inefficient processes. Nestlé's existing carrier portal was outdated and could not support the scale of their operations. Manual processes and siloed communications led to unreliable service, delays and limited visibility into transportation operations. Furthermore, scaling across diverse global territories was challenging, as the system lacked central control and decision-making capabilities.
The solution
Nestlé turned to the Transporeon Platform, a globally trusted solution with a strong presence in the carrier community. Having already partnered with Transporeon since 2012, Nestlé was familiar with the platform’s capabilities and saw an opportunity to build on its existing success. The platform was not only easy to integrate into Nestlé’s SAP-based framework but also offered numerous features that met their needs for scalability, communication and efficiency.
