Introduction

How to use Carbon Visibility

How to access the dashboard

The first step for you is to access the Carbon Visibility dashboard, where you can find your reports. Very important: you need a Transporeon user account as well as a user for My Network Insights. You have two possibilities to access the dashboards.

  • Option 1 is via the Transporeon Web by clicking on the Carbon Visibility tile. You will be guided to the Carbon Visibility dashboard directly. Very important: You need a Transporeon User account to do that. The single sign-on will lead you to the dashboard for which you need to have requested a My Network Insights user. If you didn’t request a user, please do that.
  • Option 2 is via My Network Insights. To get there click on the Transporeon Analytics tile and then go into My Network Insights. You will find Carbon Visibility high level information on the very right. Click on the title to enter the Carbon Visibility dashboard. Once again you need a Transporeon User account to access the dashboard. The single sign-on will lead you to the dashboard for which you need to have requested a My Network Insights user. If you didn’t request a user, please do that.
Data upload

Primary data is the basis for Carbon Visibility to track your emissions and generate reports. Following we will show you how your transport data finds its way into the Carbon Visibility solution.

  • All transports that you handle in Transporeon via our execution modules (Transport Assignment & Real Time Visibility) are uploaded into the dashboard automatically. (Beware that Time Slot Management bookings without a transport will not be uploaded into the dashboard)
  • To upload additional Transports (e.g. Time Slot Management bookings or transports you handled outside of Transporeon), use the transport upload icon on the bottom left of your Carbon Visibility dashboard and follow the flat file process.
  • When uploading transports please follow the structure of our template file that we linked for you under this video to ensure high data quality.

  • Attention! The upload of additional transports will trigger costs (exception: beta phase – it lasts until 31.1.23, registration needed). For pricing details please have a look at your contract, the updated Platform User Agreement or talk to your commercial contact person at Transporeon.

  • In case you want to upload transports directly in Transporeon-Web or via an interface, please contact us via the Help Center.

Carbon emissions dashboard

Now we will finally show you how the dashboards look like and what you can do with them.

Let’s start with the carbon emissions dashboard which gives you a high-level summary of your carbon emissions. Displayed by lane, timeframe, customer, country … You name it. You will receive information about your overall footprint, the transported volume, your CO2-Intensity and your Carbon Data Index. On top of that you see an Information about the Scope 3 coverage (completeness of data in terms of CO2 calculation) and some rankings based on scheduling unit, carriers, lanes & regionality. All details and values are described in the dashboard.

Carrier dashboard

The carrier dashboard gives you a granular breakdown of the carbon performance of your carrier pool. Which carriers have a high impact on your carbon emissions? Which carriers are leading the way into a sustainable future? All details and values are described in the dashboard.

Lanes dashboard

The lanes dashboard is similar to the carrier overview, this time focusing on geographic regions. How does your transport network impact your carbon footprint? All details and values are described in the dashboard.

Scheduling units dashboard

This dashboard once again is similar to the carrier & lane overview but focuses on your scheduling units. How do your different scheduling units impact your carbon footprint? All details and values are described in the dashboard.

Transports dashboard

This dashboard gives you a detailed overview of all calculated transports and foundation for your Scope 3 transport emissions report. Export this list with a single click on the download icon on the left.

Benchmarking dashboard

The Benchmarking dashboard allows you to compare yourself against the other Carbon Visibility users in three different dimensions:  Data quality, sustainable performance and data coverage. The goal: Improving over time (See also videos in the next section on how to improve)! All details and values are described in the dashboard.

How to improve your Carbon emissions reporting

Net zero journey

The best ways to benefit from Carbon Visibility:

  • Start using the Carbon Visibility dashboard. Get familiar with it, read the help articles, request access for all users and upload all your transports into the dashboard.
  • Onboard all your carriers to your Transporeon network to be directly connected and receive better data quality.
  • Improve your own data quality and match your data input to the required template. With that you will get better CO2 calculations, compliant with the GLEC framework. If needed, request support to enhance your existing Transporeon interface to match the data input requirements.
  • Motivate & incentivize your entire network to increase the share of real-time & primary data
Carrier network

The carrier network on Transporeon plays a very important role on your way towards getting the most value from Carbon Visibility. We will go a bit deeper into what possibilities you have and why it is important.

  • Would you like to check how many of your carriers exist on the Transporeon platform?

Send us the list of your carrier pool, we will verify the list and give you the percentage of your carrier network already active on Transporeon. Having this information, you can decide if you would like to use additional modules such as Real Time Visibility or Transport Execution.

  • Generally, the more carriers register on the platform, the better the data quality will be.
  • All carriers connected to your network will have their transport emissions calculated automatically.
  • Carbon Visibility and the precision of the CO2 calculation can be further improved with an extended carrier network.
  • Working with carriers that are not onboarded to Transporeon, you do not have the chance to receive real-time nor primary data. In this case we may treat the carrier as a “dummy” or map them with a wrong carrier in our system which contains more than 140.000 carriers, partially very similar names.
  • If you look only at yourself, this may not cause big issues, however, if you would like to make use of carrier-related information other shippers have collected on the same carrier (based on much more transports than yourself, on the same corridors), if you would like to give room to us to offer the carrier onboarding (in order to improve his data quality), if you would like to use third-party carriers for the purpose of procurement, freight-tenders, benchmarking information on unmapped carriers cannot be used or exchanged with others.
  • So, the carrier onboarding helps yourself and the entire network from other shippers to work with better data and better data quality to drive better decisions.
  • How to extend the carrier network?

To enhance data quality and extend your carrier network, we recommend inviting all of your carriers to the Transporeon network.

    1) Carriers who already exist on the platform and who are invited by you, will automatically be connected to your system.
    2) New carriers can join the Transporeon platform and benefit from all the features and functionalities Transporeon offers.
3)All new carriers will have access to all modules you are offering, including Transport Assignment or Time Slot Management.

  • To request carrier onboarding please use the Help Center. Once the carrier registers, you will be notified about the status.
