Trust is everything in spot freight. On Transporeonʼs Freight Exchange, every carrier is vetted before gaining full access. Company registration, VAT ID, transport licence and cargo insurance are all verified to ensure compliance. This means you donʼt need to manually check licences or insurance documents for every new carrier — the platform does the heavy lifting for you. Secure carriers. Verified documents. Reduced risk.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is Freight Exchange and who is it for?

Freight Exchange is Transporeon’s neutral digital platform for spot freight and lane-based opportunities. It connects shippers, freight forwarders, logistics service providers, and asset-based carriers across Europe. Buyers use it to post transport needs and secure capacity; carriers use it to find loads, submit offers, reduce empty kilometres, and build relationships beyond their existing customer network.

How is Freight Exchange different from a traditional freight exchange?

Many freight exchanges focus mainly on anonymous, local spot trading with limited verification. Freight Exchange combines urgent spot shipments with structured lane-specific and longer-term tender opportunities in one controlled environment. Companies trade directly without an intermediary taking a position in the transaction, carriers are verified before receiving full access, and eligible users can see Transporeon market-price data for comparable routes.

What types of freight opportunities can be managed in Freight Exchange?

Freight Exchange supports two core use cases. Spot shipments cover a single, ad-hoc transport when capacity is needed quickly. Lane Requests support repeated transports on a defined lane and over a defined period, making them suitable for seasonal demand, new routes, volume rebalancing, and shorter-term contracted business. Buyers can open opportunities to the verified network or invite selected partners; carriers can search and bid on relevant opportunities.

What does Freight Exchange offer shippers and forwarders posting freight?

Shippers and forwarders can create spot tenders within minutes, publish lane-specific requests, receive offers in real time, compare bids transparently, communicate directly with carriers, and award the right partner. They can work with their existing carrier network or extend the opportunity to verified carriers across Europe. Posting freight, adding users, receiving offers, and awarding business are free of charge.

What does Freight Exchange offer carriers?

Carriers get a continuously updated source of spot loads and recurring lane opportunities from shippers and forwarders. They can filter opportunities by route, date, equipment, distance, and customer; bid directly; adjust offers before the deadline; and track submitted offers in one place. A complete company profile improves discoverability, while market-price visibility helps eligible carriers bid competitively without relying on guesswork.

How much does Freight Exchange cost?

Posting and awarding freight is free. Carriers can start with the Free Plan at €0 per month and submit up to 10 offers per week, with limited customer information and without market-price access. The Pro Plan costs €99 per month or €999 per year and includes unlimited bidding, full customer contact details, direct messaging, market prices, bulk offer capabilities, and unlimited users. New carriers receive 30 days of full access; after the trial, the account moves to the Free Plan unless a paid subscription is activated.

How does carrier verification work?

Every carrier must be verified before gaining full access and submitting offers. Transporeon reviews the company’s VAT ID, company registration, cargo insurance, and—where applicable—EU transport licence. AI-assisted checks help speed up validation while maintaining a controlled professional network. Until verification is complete, opportunities may be anonymised and bidding, customer details, and market-price data remain restricted.

How does market-price visibility help users?

When sufficient data is available for a route, Freight Exchange surfaces real-time market prices based on Transporeon data. Buyers can use these benchmarks to assess incoming offers and negotiate with greater confidence. Carriers with an active trial or Pro Plan can use them to price competitively while protecting margins. Market-price information is shown only where the underlying data is sufficiently robust.

Which transport modes and regions does Freight Exchange cover?

Freight Exchange currently focuses on European FTL road transport and intermodal road–rail solutions. It is designed primarily for asset-based carriers, shippers, forwarders, and LSPs operating in this market. Additional modes may be added as the network and product expand.

Can a forwarder act as both a buyer and a carrier, and can Freight Exchange connect to a TMS?

Yes. Forwarders and LSPs can use the same account to post freight as a buyer and bid on opportunities as a seller. For higher-volume operations, Freight Exchange supports API integration so companies can publish loads and work with opportunities directly from a TMS or another source system, reducing manual entry. Publishing through the load-giver integration is free; implementation options can be discussed through in-platform support.

How do users get started, request support, or see a demo?

Users can register, complete their company profile, and—if they want to bid as a carrier—upload the required verification documents. Support is available through the question-mark menu and Contact Support inside the platform, with assistance in multiple European languages. Interactive product demos are also available from the Freight Exchange product pages for users who want to explore the workflow before registering.
